    Maruya

    Maruya are sliced bananas coated with flour and egg, then deep fried. Ingredients:* 1 cup sifted flour* 1 tsp baking powder* 1/2 tsp salt* 2 tbps sugar* 1/3 cup water++* achuete oil for color* ripe bananas (saba variety)* 1/2 cup cooking oil* powdered sugar (optional)Procedure:Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Add water and achuete oil to the dry ingredients and mix until batter is smooth.Peel the bananas and slice lengthwise into 2 pieces. Dip in the batter. Deep fry in cooking oil, browning evenly.
